Added more Fields example http://www.mohaaaa.co.uk/AAAAMOHAA/content/howitzer

Map mod upload field - So if a map needs a server side mod also can be uploaded - If selection is made via File attach it will show you already available files on the server to save duplicating files you can just select that file.

Will tidy the view up tomorrow was trying to finish off before I got to bed ))

Will also tidy up the add new map form so its more user friendly tomorrow

But I accidently placed a map in the list twice (Resident Evil - The Hive), but am unable to remove them, could you remove 1?
It's the last 1 (only has 4 ss, the other has 6.. weird enough).

Ok Please try now you should now have access to edit on your own posts............

Also would like to ask you to become site moderator for the the map database if that would be ok with you ? It will just mean you access rights to delete any unwanted content and amend any of the map posts that are incorrect stuff like that

Spent most of the day on enhancements to the main node view example http://www.mohaaaa.co.uk/AAAAMOHAA/content/howitzer
Now has Embed xfire option managed to get it to load better without the rest of the page hanging around for xfire let me know how the page loads for you as it cache's the view so I cant test now without clearing all the cache its built.

Few new Fields Such as Map Features - If you add a new feature under other instead of its defaults for it it will auto add it to the database so next time anyone creat's a new map the new option will be their also.

Have moved a few fields around to try and balance them a bit on the display as if one of the large fields is empty such as config it should still all display ok and also grow ok if used - Its all non fixed size depending on content.

The Xfire Video quality is a bit crap but thats xfir's encoding not AAAA - I tryd to capture full screen only to be told by xfire video was to big ???

Updated the Voting flames so it shows more info and average details now

Also added map rating percentage

Added update Field on main view http://www.mohaaaa.co.uk/AAAAMOHAA/content/aaaa-mohaa-map-database-0 so it shows if its new and you have not seen it before or if its been updated.

Added file size to Server mod file also.

Added download count for each file shows in Brackets after the file

Got a few more things I would loke to do but I need to spend some time on the match League getting that tested and ready so bare with me - will also try and get some help on getting more people to help with the uploads and do some more PR on other sites for it.

I want to make sure I have got this right before I start on the mod database and to make sure we get content on it

Yeah I don't mind helping out with that Smile
Page + xfire video loads well for me, so that's a big plus Smile

There is many info now on each map page, don't know if that will be confusing.

p.s. I'll test on this post if I can edit it.

Hi ok once your in edit you should also have the ability to delete the whole map record

Well that was everything I could possible think of has now been added to the main map node have try'd to keep the info grouped, The other thing I could do is create a new trimmed down view with just some info for quick browsing then have link to main node page ?

Well that might be more confusing.. not sure.
Some boxes just look big while hardly any info will come inside of it.

And btw, I managed to remove the map Smile
Though I wasn't talking about editting a map if that's what you thought, I talked about editting a post like this.
Because I am unable to do so.

mmm Yeh well what I will try to do is for the big items that are sometimes full of info other times can be empty is convert them to more of a row view instead of a column - Think the main ones are Map description and Server Config - they dont work together well on the lay out at present.

Ok You now have Site Moderator access - you will see a lot more crap on the displays and entry forms most of it just ignore but worth remembering that normal users cant see - I have a test account "heattest" because I forget sometimes and need to test what members can see

Yes they can be a quiet bunch lol

I am going to update some fields as thinking about it although we have got all the info their dont think I have got the categories right.........

Example the fields Type and features I have not got them right........ Say Howitzer map I think would play in FFA Death match mode so is it fair to lablel it just OBJ and also Freeze Tag. So going to update that field so you can select the modes the map can play in. Another Example I think would be BOT maps I think they will play in a few modes depending on spawn points for Team without bots enabled.........

Ok First idea -:

Ok So "Map type" will now be "Modes Map can run in"

Death Match - Free for All - set g_gametype 1
Team Based - Team Death Match - set g_gametype 2
Round Based - Round Based - set g_gametype 3
Objective - Objective - set g_gametype 4
Objective Freeze Tag - set g_gametype 4 (MEFY Mod Required server side)
Standard - All Game types - set g_gametype 1 - 4
Freeze Tag - set g_gametype 4 (MEFY Mod Required server side)
Total conversion
Liberation
Capture the Flag
Bots Enabled
Single Player
Builder Base
Jail Break
Base assault

This has been set as multi selection list so you can flag all the different game types - I guess Liberation and Jail Break the same I think ??? any others I have forgot ?

Builder Base what game modes can the maps run in ? map dependent ?? not played on that

Well I guess it's a nice idea.

Though hope the main page doesn't get flooded with too many gametypes in that case. Main page should just show the main gametype, which is mostly either DM or OBJ (could be Single Player as well). Don't know if there are maps out there that are specifically designed for a different gametype (e.g. CTF, Liberation). Anyways map list should just show 1. And when you click on it, ofc. there can be expanded on it, saying that it can also run on different gametypes.

Edit: Some total conversions might have their own map, so in that case on the main maplist it could also say ''Death Match - Total Conversion'' and same for OBJ. (Still 1 type though, not 2)

Yeh finding it hard to get it all into Catalogs - ok have updated - try an edit in a map see what you think - The problem is the multi selections on one field are not very search friendly or sortable so had to fix

Well I think people know what gametypes the normal gametypes are.. in the maplist it makes it a bit too crowded.
Simply Objective, Death Match, Single Player will do.

I was thinking myself about the search part.. it would be great if the search would still find other gametypes, even though the normal list doesn't show them. Don't know if that's possible, would be perfect..

Otherwise a simple sign behind the gametype might do the trick? (and above the maplist state what the signs mean)
Like + = Freeze-Tag addon
++ = CTF addon
^^ = Bot addon
etc.

So the maplist would show Objective ++ (or something like that, maybe a number.. so that its easier to see different gametypes like Objective 1,3,8,5)

Edit: Btw, in the maplist.. I think it's better to show 'Creator' instead of 'Map Status'.. Maps that don't work shouldn't be in the list anyways, and if they have some error, you can read about it once clicking it.. cause you still don't know what an error or bug might be, could be something insignificant (which wouldn't be a valid reason to not click on the map).

Ok had a quick go - Bare with me ))

Have gone back to basics on map type but added feature mod - Agreed on the Field map status but had already replaced with Feature mod but I think their are a few other columns that we need to be able to search on as well but wont fit so let me have a think but will sort out an advanced view to search on all fields ))

Quick question, if you vote for the map, do you mean vote the map on it's build, like there are no 'errors' in it; or vote how much you enjoy plaing it?

Hi Tom its your overall thought of map - So If their are problems with the map then yes that should effect your vote - For example If you found a good map vote good but then you can add a comment on the bottom as a review so you could say something like Good map but problems with out of map boundaries stuff like that.........

I good add separate votes for quaility and overall but think it would over complicate - Shadows Idea was to have the review on comments which I think will work well

Oh well justed wasted a few hours ((( was trying to allow tga format to be uploaded as thought it would help with speeding up adding a new as not having to convert to jpg - Well fixed that only to find not much support for converting tga to jpg - can be done but then all the image support does not work as not supported...........

Anyway never mind thats got me beat for now but I have replaced the image upload see what you think not much different but I thought it was a bit more user friendly

Well as it stands the map database is now live - other than some tweaks I am not sure if we need to do much more other than promote it and get some maps on it.................

At Present only myself and Shadow uploading its a boring task but the rewards are great when you start to see maps you have not seen before.....
We could just bulk upload with basic title info but hopefully you can see the benefits of the info we are including.

So If I can ask you all to help input

It takes about 10-15 mins to do a map with all the info.........

Some basic instructions on how I do it.............

Load the map into your main and create a local server in game on your mohaa you will see your custom map in the list also take note of its map name eg obj/obj_canal This is what would be used for rcon to change the map and also used in your config as map obj/obj_canal.

Using xfire in game video record about 2 mins of video I hover moving round the map for a minute in spec then drop in game to show any features and inside buildings for a minute, while doing this I do about 6 screen shots also few from above and then a few of features or inside buildings.

Quit out of the game and upload the xfire video - please add the map name and also this "Map file hosted on www.mohaaaa.co.uk" also and tags such as MOHAA and map name - We are getting a lot of hits from xfire from the maps we are uploading so all helps if they know where the map can be downloaded.

Then convert your screen shots from your mohaa main\screenshots they are in tga format just open them with an image appliction such as paintshop or a likes and save the files with their map name eg canal1.jp.

Now just add a new map on map database - for xfire video you will find the video on your profile page click on it and it will give you both link and embed code.......

Fill in all the info you can and upload your screen shots job done

After the time and effort to get this off the ground I can carry on doing a few maps a day but I really want to build the mod database to but until this is up and supported feel I got move on.............

So any help greatly appreciated

Well it's looking better and better each day Smile
I was trying to add a map yesterday and stumbled uppon a few bugs and suggestions though.

#1: Map Feature Modes should be optional (There doesn't have to be 1..)
#2: Map Type should not include abbrevation and gametype, simply ''Objective'' or ''Death Match'' is enough, otherwise it looks messy / confusing.
#3: "Server Side mod files" -> If you upload .pk3 files and you click on them you get to a ''Page not found'' page. .ZIP files however are downloadable.
#4: I tried to add 2 Server Side mod files, but only 1 was visible.
