AAAA Website Crashes

***SERVICE*** Hi all have had a problem where our Apache web server crashes a couple of times a day  on php5ts.dll - I think I have found a possible  cause which is another DLL   php_curl.dll  which I have disabled - the main problem is I thought it was required and appeared to been getting used hence the crashes with php5ts.dll which is required.

Anyway I have disabled it and nothing seems to have broke or become slower than normal so just let me know if you have any problems.

What you would have seen now and again is perhaps a white error page with "connection Reset" then when you refreshed it worked again - bassically that DLL was crashing and restarting

Will check the logs later to see if its crashed since this fingers crossed

Many thanks

Happy shooting - Kill em ALL and kill em again

Re: AAAA Website Crashes

Hi all ok think this is looking like it may be fixed now no crashes since last night........:dance_happy:

Basically we were running the latest versions of Apache, MYSQL and PHP and have been for a while now - turns out after a lot of googling that there are a few issues with PHP and all depends on what sort of things are being used and run.

So I have rebuilt the Apache server on an older version that was reported as very stable for what we use - have spotted some minor issues with some missing DLL files but have not added these yet as not found out what uses them or if we need them.

Front page still a little slow but seems to be more constant now and not going up to 15 secs like it was before --- I hope :lol_stena:

Re: AAAA Website Crashes

Well so far so good for Speed tests we have gone from a Grade "E" which was our status about 6 months to now a Grade "A" on Yslow stats -:

Some of the finial things its reporting as "E" Compress with Gzip and HTTP Requests are in place but its reporting to use "Sprites" which I have never used before and not sure if the current theme can support them

By the looks of it think one of the problems on the main page was the Whos online block showing the guests lists and where they were from - think this was causing too many external lookups to get the details for each non registered member so have just set it to show registered and then number of guests
