Free Cloud Hosting

Hi Just incase this is of some use to someone some info on current free cloud services...............

I wanted to upload some large backup files for MOHAA stuff and one of the things I noticed on a few of the free services is you are restricated on upload sizes per file so for example one of my backups was a zip at 4gb - Microsoft and google both have limits like 300mb which means you have to then split your archive up and yeh its easy enough but seen corruption doing this in the past and the last thing you want is a corrupted backup!!!!

Anyway found this page with some of the big ones -: http://www.freewaregenius.com/a-comparison-of-free-cloud-storage-services/

So Glide stood out big time having no limited upload file size and also 30GB Tongue

Well even in this day and age storage is not cheap and kind of think 30gb very cool Cool

Well one thing for sure they all suck at upload speed - I am currently uploading 4gb to Glide with a 1gb network connection from our dedi and its been running now 10 mins and only done 4%

I have also FTP'd my backup to my other dedi over a 100mb connection and the whole transfer was under 10mins so you kind of get what you pay for (so in this case nothing lol) but have found the Glide front end both browser and app very nice and IMO miles better than microsoft and google.

Re: Free Cloud Hosting

Ok so been using Glide they have stopped support on free account for files over 2gb which is a pain having to spit your archives up and also have a lot of time outs and problems on a slow connection with glide..............

So !!! but the bad boy .dotcom has released www.mega.co.nz I am sure most of you seen this but its like 50gb and no limit on upload all files encrypted - I think they done a great job and its so much better than GLIDE

some background here for those that dont know the history of .dotcomhttp://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...#axzz2K947jo6y
